What if you have already tried to work on your trauma?

What if working on your trauma didn't work for you? What if you've already done some trauma work and it was not helpful or even harmful?

Would you consider it again?

Did you feel like you were just re-telling and re-living the trauma? Good trauma work promotes processing and not just digging the mental ruts deeper! Coming at memories from a purely logical stance is likely to re-traumatize you with very little relief.

This is because trauma is overwhelming to the nervous system and not processed in the cognitive parts of the brain.

Did you end up looping? It takes courage to enter trauma work after looping. Good trauma work includes multiple modalities to make sure your nervous system is settled and soothed before and during processing memories. Many of these techniques are rooted in the body... That's where your nervous system lives after all!

Did you have lots of insight and logical understanding but were unable to move forward in life? Trauma work is more than just telling the story or talking logically. It's more than psychotherapy. Trauma work must includes modalities to heal the deeper parts of the brain... which are experienced in the mind as illogical fears, and in the body a strange sensations or nervous system dysregulation such as (fight, flight, freeze/fawn).

And be honest, do you feel hopeless about trauma work? It can be hard to imagine feeling better and that things can change. Good trauma work addresses hopelessness, shame, and depression directly. Have the courage to have hope as best you can. You know I believe in you.

Most people find integrating trauma to be more comfortable than they expected. Remember integration work is not about re-living the events and is not designed to flood or overwhelm you. Good trauma work connects to the parts of you that have unmet needs. And integrates those parts! Sound trippy and magical? It is! That's because we start with a calm centered state of being and leverage the subconscious mind... where everything is possible.
